Though the course dates are yet to be released, the programme will begin sometime between September and October. As the six-month course is targeted at early-career working professionals and recent graduates, basic foundational knowledge of Python programming is required for enrollment.
Narottam Aryal, the president of King’s College, stated, “As the world witnesses rapid advancements in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Nepal too can make a mark in this domain. Our goal with this AI educational programme is to share knowledge and increase expertise in AI.”
Furthermore, the programme envisions that participating students will not only find employment opportunities in the global market but also succeed in opening various business ventures by applying locally developed AI-based software.
Bishesh Khanal, the co-founder and director of NAAMII, shared, “The demand for manpower working in AI software is high in the global market. There is a lot of outsourcing in such work from Nepal, and young people are already working as freelancers.” With this initiative, he hopes that start-ups that use AI in fields like agriculture and health will increase in the country.
The representatives of both parties have further opined that this educational initiative will be helpful in skill enhancement and for producing knowledgeable and competent manpower in AI in Nepal.
Khanal says that King’s College and NAAMII’s partnership wants to instil confidence in developing the latest technological and qualitative learning in Nepal’s educational sector. “We hope to empower individuals with skills that can meet the global market’s demands and foster competitiveness,” he said.
