Bihani Social Venture, which was established in 2013, has been running a session on elder abuse for a decade on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. The 2023 edition of this session, which is in association with Sustainable Elder Care, is happening today on the theme, ‘Closing the Circle: Addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Older Age—Policy, Law and Evidence-based Responses’. June 15 is recognised by the UN General Assembly in its resolution adaptation since 2011 as World Elder Abuse Day (WEAAD).

The two hours long session is primarily intended to raise awareness of elder abuse, its several forms, and methods for dealing with and preventing it. The programme will start at noon. The Bihani team will open the session with an explanation of this year’s theme. A drama performance representing elder abuse and a presentation on the same topic will follow the opening. A Q&A session, discussion and interaction will close the event. Everyone above 18 years of age can join the session.
