As the number of literature and art festivals rises in the country, the National College too is all set to celebrate its first iteration of the International Literature Festival from December 27 to 29 at Alice Receptions, Gairidhara. The festival aims to celebrate literature in diverse languages.
The festival will see the participation of international writers and poets from India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Korea and Australia. It will also
serve as a platform for young students to recite their poems and prose. Along with hosting interactions among participants, the festival will explore various issues and trends in the literature world.
The organisers believe this festival will complement all the hitherto held literature festivals in the country and will help encourage the literary movement in Kathmandu.
“This is the first time we are organising this programme and we believe it will be significant in boosting creative works here in the country. National College believes that extracurricular activities help students explore their creativity,” says Bhisma Upreti, programme coordinator of the festival.
The International Literature Festival will also see various poems and prose recital programmes and a keynote speech from poet and writer Abhi Subedi. The event will also immerse in a constructive panel discussion on the topic ‘Reflecting society on words,’ on the first day of the festival. The discussion will be moderated by Shekhar Kharel, with both Nepali and international poets and writers.
The festival will be held from 27-29 December at Alice Receptions, Gairidhara.
