Nepal Police has clarified that a French national found in a helpless condition in the Pashupatinath area has been safely handed over to the Department of Immigration.
The individual had been living in Nepal with his Nepali wife for the past six years, police said. Due to financial difficulties, he reportedly left behind his passport, mobile phone and laptop at a hotel.
Police added that a preliminary inquiry found no evidence of theft or robbery.
Authorities have urged the public not to share unverified photos or videos on social media, warning against spreading misinformation for likes or views.
Police also thanked those who alerted them after the video surfaced.
