Preparations are underway to take national poet Madhav Prasad Ghimire to the Indian capital New Delhi for treatment.
The nanogenerian poet will be flown to Gurgaon-based Medanta Hospital on Wednesday, a family source said.
Ghimire, 99, was admitted to Grande Hospital 12 days ago for chronic gastritis and high blood pressure. Although there has been a minor improvement in his health, he is taking time to recuperate from internal bleeding, according to the hospital administration.
The family source said the doctors involved in his treatment had advised him to be flown abroad for further treatment. Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chhetri on Tuesday visited Ghimire, honorary Brig Gen of Nepal Army, at the hospital to enquire about his health condition. The news of Ghimire’s ill health comes at a time when preparations have been
initiated to celebrate his birth centenary. (PR)
