Left Alliance candidate Shahsikala Dahal has been elected the National Assembly Vice Chairman on Sunday.
Dahal received 45 votes in an election held at Federal Parliament building, New Baneshwor today. Only 11 votes were cast to Dahal’s rival Nepali Congress’ Brindadevi Ale Rana.
Fifty-six of the 56 NA members attended and voted in the election.
Earlier, on Wednesday, CPN-UML leader Ganesh Timilsena, who was sole contender for the chair of the National Assembly, was declared victorious unopposed.
