CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that he has always been in favour of the issues and demands raised by agitating Dr Govinda KC.

The former prime minister said so to a delegation team that reached his residence on Sunday urging him to save Dr KC, whose hunger strike demanding reforms in country’s health education and medical sector has reached 21^st day on Sunday.

“Dr KC’s demands for a 10-year moratorium on opening new medical colleges in Kathmandu Valley and enforcing a past deal that penned purchase of Manmohan Medical College by the government are positive. I reckon this will make the medical education dignified,” said Dahal during the meeting, “When I was at the helm of government, we had a positive discussion on addressing the demands raised by Dr KC. But due to some legal and administrative hurdles, not all works could be completed.”

Dahal said that the issues should be properly addressed through an Act and that Dr KC should be assured of it to end his hunger strike.
