Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) announced this regulation to check building guidelines violations, said Er Ravindra Kumar Paudyal, technical director at the
KMC, on Friday.
“The metropolis has made it mandatory for medium and big projects like high-rise buildings, hotels, companies and institutional buildings to have signboards of project details to maintain public transparency,” said Paudyal.
The signage, four by six in dimension, must include name of the company or the owner, area and location of the land, DPC permission and project conclusion date. It should also have names and contact details of KMC engineers in supervision of the project and contractor and the building designer.
“KMC believes that this move will aid in its mission to enforce the building codes, said Paudyal. “The KMC officials will conduct inspections of the project till its completion, and only after the recommendations from supervising engineers the project will get completion certificate.”
