Over 3,000 people participated in the clean-up drive.Former prime minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and former health minister and Nepali Congress central leader Gagan Thapa also took part in the river clean-up programme.
Appreciating the clean-up drive, Oli called on all to put more efforts to keep the rivers and environment clean.
Thapa also requested all to give continuity to the clean-up campaign.
Other participants at Saturday’s Bishnumati clean-up campaign were Giriraj Mani Pokhrel, former minister and leader of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and Kunti Kumari Shahi, a lawmaker from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party.
Volunteers also took oath in the presence of newly appointed Chief Secretary Rajendra Kishor Chhetri to give continuity to the river clean-up campaign.
Chhetri also expressed his commitment to make efforts on his part to keep the Valley rivers clean.
The programme also saw the presence of comedian duo Manoj Gajurel and Sitaram Kattel (Dhurmus).
