RPP to recall ministers soon, says Lohani
National Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Prakash Chandra Lohani has said that his party would recall its ministers soon arguing that there was no point maintaining the coalition.National Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Prakash Chandra Lohani has said that his party would recall its ministers soon arguing that there was no point maintaining the coalition.
“Our party does not have any significant partnership in the government,” he said at a function organised by the Reporter’s Club on Monday. “Nor has our party been involved in key decisions of the government.”
Lohani said there were growing calls within the party for recalling the ministers. The party committee overseeing the government’s activities would take a decision soon.
Stating that the RPP’s presence in the government was not felt, he accused the prime minister of never inviting the party for discussion. Now there was little chance that the RPP would remain in the government. “We are just waiting for an official announcement,” he said.
Stressing the need for holding the local level elections, he rejected the idea of constitution amendment. Since the people have not got the opportunity to elect their local governments for 19 years, the fourth largest party in Parliament demanded local polls.
“Constitution amendment will not solve the country’s problems as it does not serve national interests. There is no need for it,” said Lohani. He charged the government with making excuses as it had no intention of holding the elections.
