Theatre Lab returns with training for aspiring performers
Mandala Theatre’s three-month course uses workshops and research-based production to introduce beginners to play-making.Post Report
Mandala Theatre has extended the deadline for submitting the admission form for the 18th edition of its theatre qualification programme, Theatre Lab, which is designed for theatre learners and aspiring performers.
Launched in 2012, Theatre Lab has since grown into a well-established training platform within Nepal’s theatre community. Over the years, it has completed 17 seasons, becoming one of Mandala’s signature programmes aimed at nurturing emerging talents.
The three-month course emphasises participatory-based activities, a research-oriented production process, and practical conservatoire-style teaching. It aims to equip participants with creative and performance skills that can drive innovation and artistic growth in the field of theatre.
According to information provided by Mandala Theatre in its application form, participation in the course offers an introduction to stage performance and production. However, the theatre notes a clear disclaimer that taking part in the training “does not guarantee” an acting job.
The course fee is set at Rs60,000. The new form submission deadline is November 12, with interviews and auditions scheduled for November 13.
Classes will begin on November 16, taking place every morning from 7 am to 11 am.
