Police arrested nine individuals, including a grocery shop owner, on the charge of gambling in Devdhura, ward 4 of Malikarjun Rural Municipality, on Thursday night.

A joint team from the District Police Office, Darchula and Shankarpur Police Post raided the grocery store and confiscated Rs113,775 and two decks of cards, said Kanti Raj Joshi, information officer of the District Police Office, Darchula.

The arrested include shop owner Bhuwan Singh Dhami and other locals: Indra Singh Dhami, 52; Bhawan Singh Dhami, 40; Min Singh Dhami, 31; Gagan Singh Dhami, 40; Kisan Singh Dhami, 35; Uttar Singh Dhami, 60; Man Singh Dhami, 56; and Gambhir Singh Dhami, 51.

Police said further investigation is underway.
