Police on Monday arrested two individuals in connection to a rape case in Dodhara Chandani Municipality of Kanchanpur district.

According to police, the alleged incident took place in ward number 6 of the municipality where the two accused raped a teenage girl.

Police informed that Pawan Prasad Upadhyay, 21 and Amar Bahadur Khatri, 26 of Ward No. 9 of the municipality have been arrested for investigation.

The arrested individuals were operating a dairy store.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Dangi of District Police Office Kanchanpur said that the duo were arrested based on the complaint filed by the girl’s relatives.

A preliminary investigation into the complaint revealed that the 17-year-old girl, a resident of the municipality, was heading to her relative’s to participate in a birthday celebration on Sunday evening. While on her way, the 21-year-old owner of a dairy shop, proposed to drop the girl on his motorcycle and called her inside the shop where he allegedly raped her.
