An elderly woman died after she was swept away by Mahakali river in Darchula district on Saturday afternoon.
According to police, a 70-year-old woman from Byas Municipality-1, Chhangru fell into the river bordering Nepal and India at Mahakali Municipality-8, Bangabagar.
The body was recovered on the Indian side of the river opposite Mahakali-4, Dumpani.
Indian police said the body stuck between stones was retrieved and taken to Dharchula Hospital in Pithoragarh district for post-mortem.
