Police have arrested a couple on the charge of murdering a teacher in Baitadi district.

The couple identified as Praja Bohara and his wife Bimala Bohara has been accused of murdering Dhan Bahadur Bista, a teacher at the Patan-based Krishna Secondary School.

The couple from Purchaudi Municipality-3 of the district was paraded at a press conference on Thursday.

A preliminary police investigation showed Praja murdered the teacher hailing from Sunarya Rural Municipality-2, Gyawni, on December 16, accusing the latter of misbehaving with his wife staying at the school’s hostel.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Prem Bahadur Shahi said the accused punched the teacher and knocked him down after finding him of hugging Bimala.

He then beat the teacher on his chest and mouth, killing him on the spot, said DSP Shahi.

The couple then disposed of the body in an area behind the hostel, police said, adding that a further investigation is underway.
