Nepal Police Club and Rukum West Volleyball Club won the tenth edition of the ‘PM Cup: NVA Women & Men Volleyball League’ after emerging victorious in their respective finals at Dasharath Stadium’s Covered Hall in Kathmandu on Saturday.
Police and Rukum West defeated New Diamond Youth Sports Club and Help Nepal Sports Club in the women’s and men’s final, respectively. Both the runner-ups were promoted by Tip Top.
From the very beginning, Police asserted dominance against New Diamond, a club run by senior coach Kumar Rai. The departmental club was once at 10-2 in the first set.
However, New Diamond is a team that can bounce back at any time. And they did, albeit it was insufficient, as Police won the first set 25-21.
But New Diamond won the second set, by 25-17. The final got more interesting thereafter.
The third set saw a close contest. Police won it 25-23.
New Diamond needed to win the fourth set to keep their hopes for the title alive. But despite making it competitive and levelling the points at 18, New Diamond could not stay consistent. The fourth set ended in favour of Police at an unprecedented 25-19, and they defended the title.
It was Police’s fourth consecutive PM Cup title in the women’s category. After finishing as the runner-ups in 2016/17, 2018/19 and 2021/22, having lost to New Diamond twice and APF once, Police have been continuous champions in the women’s category in the 2023, 2024 and 2025 seasons.
On the other hand, Help Nepal Sports Club were denied their sixth title, and a fourth consecutive, in the men’s category. Help Nepal have won the tournament in 2016, 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
Moreover, Help Nepal’s dominance was put to an end by an emerging team—the Rukum West Volleyball Club, which clinched their maiden title defeating Help Nepal in three successive sets.
It was not as if Rukum West dominated the game against Help Nepal. The three sets were equally competitive, but Rukum West got those winning points.
The first set also went to extended play after the score was tied. Rukum West won it by 29-27.
The second set was comparatively a bit easier for Rukum West; they won it 25-21.
However, the third set was an absolute nail-biter. Both teams were scoring successively and keeping the points level, which led the points to reach up to 30. Rukum West won it 32-30 and claimed the trophy.
Alongside trophies and medals, the two winners received Rs1 million each. The runners-up bagged Rs500,000 each.
