Nepal face 263-run chase in League 2 opener

Nepal have been given a target of 263 runs by the United States in their opening match of the ICC World Cup League 2 tri-series featuring Nepal, the USA, and the UAE.
After Nepal won the toss and opted to field first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the United States scored 262 for six in the allotted 50 overs.
For the USA, Smit Patel led the innings with a fine 75 off 100 balls, striking nine boundaries before being run out.
Nepal’s bowlers put in a disciplined effort, with Sandeep Lamichhane taking two wickets, while Sompal Kami, Arif Sheikh, and Dipendra Singh Airee claimed one wicket each.

After 16 matches in the League 2 standings, Nepal sit seventh with 12 points, having won five games, lost nine, and shared points in two. The UAE are at the bottom with six points from 16 games, while the USA, with 14 wins from 20 matches, stand second on 28 points.
Ahead of this series, Nepal made several changes to their squad: Mohammad Aadil Alam, Sandeep Jora, and Lokesh Bam were replaced by Aasif Sheikh, Bhim Sharki, and Shahab Alam.
With most players actively engaged in recent domestic fixtures, Nepal’s current form and rhythm could prove vital as they aim to carry their momentum into the League 2 campaign.
