Nepal thrash Oman by 38 runs to remain unbeaten in T20 World Cup Qualifier
Bhurtel’s 69 and Jha’s all-round effort help Nepal end Oman’s unbeaten run in Muscat.

Already qualified for next year’s ICC T20 World Cup, Nepal registered a commanding 38-run victory over hosts Oman in the Super 6 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup Asia–East Asia Pacific (EAP) Qualifier in Muscat on Wednesday.
The win not only ended Oman’s unbeaten streak but also kept Nepal’s flawless run intact. With the victory, Nepal climbed to the top of the Super 6 standings with eight points from four matches, followed by Oman on six and the UAE on four.
Chasing 152 runs, Oman were restricted to 113 for nine wickets in their 20 overs. Gulshan Jha starred with the ball, claiming three wickets, while Sompal Kami and Nandan Yadav took two wickets each. Sandeep Lamichhane also contributed with a wicket.
For Oman, Vinayak Shukla top-scored with 32 runs, while Mohammad Nadeem added 25. Skipper Jatinder Singh scored 14 runs, and Aryan Bisht chipped in with 11.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground, Nepal posted 151 for nine in their allotted 20 overs.
Opener Kushal Bhurtel top-scored with a fluent 69 off 51 deliveries, hitting seven fours and a six before falling leg-before to Jiten Ramanandi. Aasif Sheikh made 24 runs off 20 balls with two fours and a six before being bowled by Nadeem Khan.
Gulshan Jha added a quick 18 off 10 balls, including two sixes, while Adil Alam Ansari struck three fours in his 16-run knock off 15 balls. Kushal Malla, Rohit Paudel, and Dipendra Singh Airee all fell cheaply to Nadeem, who was Oman’s standout performer with the ball.
Nadeem Khan finished with 4 wickets for 20 runs, while Sufyan Mehmood and Jiten Ramanandi claimed two wickets each.
Earlier in the day, Qatar beat Japan by three wickets and the UAE defeated Samoa by 77 runs, confirming Nepal and Oman’s qualification for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
With one match remaining in the Super 6 stage, Nepal will face Samoa on Friday, aiming to lift the Asia–EAP Qualifier title with an unbeaten record.
