Nepal registered their third victory in the ongoing SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship, defeating Sri Lanka 7-0 in a commanding performance at the Bashundhara Sports Ground in Dhaka on Thursday.
With this win, Nepal now have nine points from four matches in the double round-robin tournament. This was Nepal’s second 7-0 win over Sri Lanka in the competition.
Samikshya Magar led the charge with two goals, while Purnima Rai, Kusum Khatiwada, Sarita Nath, and Birsana Chaudhary each scored one. An additional goal came from a Sri Lankan own goal.
Anisha Rai missed an opportunity to add to the scoreline after failing to convert a penalty. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka suffered their fourth straight defeat and remain without a point in the tournament.
