Inter-college tournament sees widespread participation and aims to become annual event.
Post Report
The Kathmandu University Running Shield-2082, an inter-college sports tournament promoting athleticism, leadership, and teamwork, is nearing its conclusion.
The event, which began on April 18 at the central campus in Dhulikhel, marks the revival of large-scale sporting events at KU after more than a decade. The event will conclude on Friday.
The tournament has drawn participation from all seven of the university’s constituent schools and 12 affiliated colleges, featuring a broad range of competitions including track and field events, football, cricket, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, badminton, and chess. Events are being held for both male and female athletes, with organisers ensuring inclusive engagement from across the KU community.
The School of Law currently leads the points table, followed closely by the School of Medical Sciences, as several finals are still to be decided. The university’s Dhulikhel campus has been transformed into a hub of sporting activity, drawing large crowds of students and faculty in support of their respective teams.
Krishna Sundar Thapa, associate director of the Student Welfare Directorate, said the KU Running Shield is expected to become an annual tradition, contributing to the holistic development of students and strengthening community bonds.
As the tournament approaches its final stage, organisers say the spirit of competition and sportsmanship has exceeded expectations.
