Tamraker sets national record in swimming
A total of three national records have been set at the competition so far.

Ajal Kaji Tamrakar set a new national record in men’s 100 metres butterfly at the First Nepal Aquatics Championship on Monday.
Tamrakar took 59.17 seconds at the Heating Swimming Pool in Satdobato, Lalitpur to shatter Anubhav Subba’s record of 59.77 seconds set during the 25th National Open Swimming Competition in 2022.
It is Tamrakar’s second national record at the competition after he swam 25.52 seconds to break the men’s 50 metres butterfly record on Saturday. His 25.52 bettered his own previous record of 25.67 seconds he set during the 26th National Open Swimming Competition last year.
A total of three national records have been set at the competition.
On Saturday, Diwakar Awale made a new record in the men’s 200 metres breaststroke. He had completed the race in 2 minutes 30.15 seconds eclipsing the record of 2 minutes 31.15 seconds achieved by Shubham Sharma at the 13th South Asian Games in 2019.
A total of 354 athletes competed in 65 events in the two-day competition.
Nisarga Batika School won the team championship with 166 points. St Mary’s School finished second with 53 points. GEMS stood third with 36 points.
