Shiksha Napit of Bagmati Province claimed fencing gold in women’s individual sabre to secure second gold at the Ninth National Games underway in Pokhara.
This is the second gold medal of the National Games that will formally begin on October 14. Earlier Nepal Police Club had claimed the Twenty20 cricket title to bag the first gold of the Games.
Napit edged Urmila Lama of Nepal APF Club in the title clash. Rabina Thapa and Manisha Shrestha of Tribhuvan Army Club walked away with bronze in the event.
The fencing kicked off on Monday at the badminton covered hall of Pokhara Stadium, with six teams—Bagmati, Gandaki, Sudurpaschim, Province 1, APF and Army—competing in it. The fencing event will finish on October 14.
