Defending champions Nepal national women’s volleyball team maintained their unbeaten record in the Asian Central Zone Volleyball Challenge Cup defeating Kyrgyzstan 25-8, 25-14, 25-16 in their final league match in Dhaka on Monday.
Nepal, who had already stormed into the final on Sunday after overcoming Uzbekistan 25-20, 25-23, 25-14 at the Shaheed Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium, will meet the same opponents in Tuesday's mouthwatering final.
Nepal captain Aruna Shahi said she was hopeful of retaining the title but was wary of their final opponents.
“We will keep the momentum in the final as well. I hope we can give our country another gold,” said Shahi. “But Uzbekistan are a good team. We must remain cautious,” she added.
The fifth win in as many matches gave Nepal 14 points at the completion of the league round.
Uzbekistan finished as group runners-up accumulating 12 points after they beat Sri Lanka 26-24, 25-18, 20-25, 19-25, 15-12 in the day’s earlier match.
In the other fixture, Bangladesh defeated the Maldives 16-25, 25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 16-15.
Sri Lanka will meet Kyrgyzstan in the third-place playoff on Tuesday.
