Players picked for Team Championship badminton

Top seeded national badminton players set to compete in the Kathmandu Team Championship badminton tournament were selected through lucky draw in Kathmandu on Thursday.
The event featuring eight corporate teams—Nepal Telecom, Nepal Electricity Authority, Kantipur Media Group, Kumari Bank, Silk Group, Nepal Rastra Bank, IME Group and Nepal Oil Corporation—will take place at the National Sports Council covered hall in Tripureshwar from December 21 to 24.
The event will feature men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and corporate doubles.
Top eight seeded male and female players each were picked through lucky draw. Ratnajit Tamang and Sima Rajbanshi were drawn for the Nepal Telecom while Dipesh Dhami and Amita Giri were pitted in Nepal Rastra Bank team. Sajan Krishna Tamang and Samjhana Sharma were drawn for Kantipur Media Group while Bikash Shrestha and Anumaya Rai were picked in Silk Group.
Jessica Gurung and Sita Rai, seeded among top eight, withdrew paving way for ninth and tenth seeds Seema Rajbanshi and Samjhana Sharma to compete in the event.
Bishnu Katuwal and Rashila Maharjan were picked in Nepal Oil Corporation team, Sunaina Mukhiya and Sudip Sedai in Kumari Bank team, Deepak Bohara and Sobha Gauchan in Nepal Electricity Authority team and Nangsal Tamang and Nabin Shrestha in IME Group.
