Departmental teams Nepal Police Club and Armed Police Force (APF) Club dominated the first day with impressive wins as the fifth National NVA Club League Women’s and Men’s Volleyball Championship kicked off on Thursday.
At the NSC covered hall, Police overpowered Nayabazar Samajik Yuwa 3-0 to collect their first three points. With a majority of national men’s volleyball team members in the squad, Police were dominating in their 25-9, 25-21, 25-16 victory.
APF had to sweat against a Bulbule RaRa Club featuring three Pakistani players.
In a competitive match, the departmental side got close to victory winning the first two sets 25-20, 28-26 but Bulbule fought back with a dominating display to claim the third set 25-18. However, it was APF who had the final say, snatching the fourth set 32-30 to secure victory.
In the day’s late match, Tribhuvan Army Club defeated Manimukunda Volleyball Club 25-17, 25-14, 25-21.

A total of six teams are competing in the women’s category while the men’s section features seven teams in the tournament that will run until April 8. The championship is being played in the round-robin format. The top two finishers at the end of the league will compete in the final.
The winners of both women’s and men’s categories will receive a cash prize of Rs300,000 each while the runners-up will get Rs150,000. The third-placed teams and fourth-placed teams will take home Rs76,000 and Rs37,500 respectively.
