Inter-ward TT championships to be held from March 15
The championships will have six events including men's and women's singles, men's and women's team events, men's veteran singles above 40 years and above 55 years.Sports Bureau
Spin Events is set to organise All Nepal Inter-ward Table Tennis Championships at the National Table Tennis Training Centre in Lainchaur from March 15 to 20.
The event to be organised under the aegis of All Nepal Table Tennis Association will feature around 1,000 players, said Suman Shakya, the president of Spin Events.
"Only the players below top 16 rankings will be eligible to play in the event," said Shakya. "The main objective of the event is to lift the morale of players who were hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic."
The championships will have six events including men's and women's singles, men's and women's team events, men's veteran singles above 40 years and above 55 years. The winners and the runners up of men's and women's singles will get Rs30,000 and Rs15,000 respectively while the two semi-finalists will walk away with Rs7,500. The winners of the veterans' event will also share the cash prizes.
The ward that claims the highest number of medals will be awarded the running shield along with a cash prize of Rs50,000.
Meanwhile, Spin Events also signed the chief sponsorship deal for the event with Valley Construction Private Limited. Spin Event President Shakya and Valley Construction Managing Director Rabindra Maharjan signed the memorandum of understanding. The chief sponsors will provide Rs 975,000, a half of the total budget to run the event.
