Nepal Police Club (NPC) and Dauphins Family of Cameroon clash on Monday for the title of Tilottama Gold Cup football tournament at the ANFA Academy grounds in Devinagar.
Both teams expressed confidence of lifting the title on the eve of the final. NPC are expecting goals from either Bharat Shah, Rabi Paswan or Milan Rai as the team plans to upset their opponents with pace and speed. NPC coach Ananta Thapa said his team had to rely on skills and speed to subdue the physically superior Dauphins team. “We will have to be on the offence from the start and look for ways to pierce their defence,” said the NPC coach.
Dauphins skipper Jo Angola said his team is not just superior physically but are also equally skilful when it comes to playing good football. “We have devised certain plans and hope to win the final with big margins,” added the Dauphins skipper. The two teams will be clashing for the second time this season after playing in the Budha Subba Gold Cup semi-finals. Dauphins won that match in sudden death penalty shootout on their way to lifting the title. Dauphins have also won Pokhara Cup title. NPC’s only title this season came at the Khaptad Gold Cup in Dhangadhi last month.
The champions will walk away with Rs 880,000 while the runners-up will receive Rs 550,000. The best player of the tournament will ride home a two-wheeler, while the best four individuals—goalkeeper, defender, forward and coach—will also get Rs 25,000 each.
