Mahendranagar United reached the final of Dhangadhi Premier League (DPL) after Kathmandu Goldens boycotted the second qualifier over action against its player.
Goldens Indian player Ankit Dabas was banned from bowling over his bowling action on Thursday. Organisers said umpires suspected his bowling action was illegal in the two of the matches he played. A technical committee inspected the video evidence and concluded Dabas’s action as illegal.
Team manager Sanjay Shrestha said they decided not to play the second qualifier after their bowler was banned from bowling. “The organisers have not followed ICC rules from the beginning. The state of the ground is also not good,” he said.
Dabas was elected man-of-the-match in all the three matches his team won. He was the leading wicket taker of the tournament with six wickets and also had scored 153 runs.
The final between Mahendranagar United and CYC Attariya will take place on Saturday.
