Nepal are set to play their second One Day International (ODI) Series away to the United Arab Emirates beginning from January 25.
It is going to be the second bilateral ODI series for Nepal which earned the coveted status following an eighth place finish in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers held in Zimbabwe in March this year. According to national cricket team technical analyst Raman Shiwakoti, the away series will include three ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals.
“We are arranging for the dates but the series will begin from January 25 and that is confirmed for the time being,” Shiwakoti told the Post. The two countries have tentatively fixed the schedule with the one-dayers beginning first followed by the three Twenty20 Internationals.
The proposed schedule sees the first ODI beginning on January 25 followed by the second the very next day. After a day of rest, the third ODI is slated for January 28. The two teams then will go for a two-day break before beginning the T20I series on January 31. The second T20I will be played on February 1 with the third on February 3. The venues for all the matches are yet to be confirmed.
After being elevated as an ODI nation, Nepal have so far played three ODIs - two in another away bilateral series against the Netherlands. The two-match series had ended 1-1 with Nepal registering a thrilling one-run victory over the Dutch in Amstelveen on August 3. The third ODI was against the UAE itself during the ACC Asia Cup Qualifiers in Malaysia which Nepal had lost.
