All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Thursday appointed Shrestha as the assistant coach for the SAFF football championship to be held in Bangladesh from September 4 to 15.
Bal Gopal Maharjan has already been appointed as the main coach of the team.
Shrestha, 42, who had started his football career from Pokhara, came to limelight with the establishment of Sahara Club.
He had captioned Jawalakhel Youth Club from 1999 to 2004. He had also led Boudha Youth Club, Himalayan Sherpa Club and Sudurpachin 11 in the ‘A’ Division League.
Shrestha is ‘A’ level certified coach of AAFC.
Shrestha expressed his happiness after he was appointed as the assistant coach of the Nepali football team. “ANFA has given a big place by trusting me,” he said, adding, “I will utilize this good opportunity.”
