Anfa begins earthquake relief campaign
All Nepal Football Association (Anfa) on Saturday distributed tarpaulins and mosquito nets to the earthquake victims that killed over 8,000 people in Nepal.Anfa office bearers including Acting President Lalit Krishna Shrestha, former national team skippers Upendra Man Singh, Hari Khadka and Bal Gopal Maharjan handed over the relief materials to District Administration in Bhaktapur and Kavre. Anfa handed over 150 tarpaulins and 150 mosquito nets each to the two District Administration Offices (DAO). The DAO will in turn will disburse the relief materials to the needy people of the districts, informed the Anfa. Anfa plans to carry on with the relief campaign in other affected areas as well by with coordination with its district football associations.
The football governing body also said it will ask for donations at international level as well. Anfa said it will also urge for assistance at Fifa Congress which is scheduled for May 28-29 in Zurich. Funds raised from donations will utilised primarily for the maintenance of sporting infrastructure damaged by the earthquake that first jolted Nepal on April 25. Some amounts will also be provided to the family of sportspersons affected by the earthquake, said Anfa.
