The Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) on Wednesday announced that the 23rd edition of the annual ’NSJF Pulsar Sports Award’ will take place on September 3 at the Nepal Police Club in Kathmandu.

The announcement was made during the announcement and signing ceremony, where the forum also officially confirmed the continuation of its long-standing partnership with the main sponsor, Golchha Group.

This marks the 19th consecutive edition of Golchha Group’s association with the country’s most prestigious sports award. Both parties had signed a five-year agreement last year, with the partnership currently running in its second year.

NSJF President Niranjan Adhikari and Director of Golchha Group Abhimanyu Golchha signed an MoU for the 23rd edition during the event.

“We take pride in being associated with the forum for 19 consecutive years,” said Golchha after the signing. “We have been walking together in sports for a long time, but our relationship with the forum has evolved into something deeply special. We wish the forum every success for the upcoming event.”

Adhikari expressed his gratitude to the corporate house, noting that the consistent backing from Golchha Group has allowed the forum to organise the awards systematically and maintain its continuity over nearly two decades.

According to NSJF General Secretary Anjan Khadka, honours will be presented across nine categories this year: Male Player of the Year, Female Player of the Year, Youth Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, People’s Choice Award, Para-Athlete Honour, Special Award, Lifetime Achievement Award and the Asian Sports Journalist Award.

Khadka informed that the nominations for five categories—Male, Female, Youth, Coach, and People’s Choice—will be announced in a few days.

The nominees for the People’s Choice Award will be revealed early to allow sufficient time for public voting. Meanwhile, the winners of the Lifetime Achievement, Special, Para-Athlete, and Asian Sports Journalist awards will be revealed directly on the event day.

Winners of the Male, Female, Youth, Coach, and People’s Choice categories will be rewarded with Pulsar motorcycles. Winners and honourees in the remaining categories will receive cash prizes of Rs100,000 each.

In the previous edition, national cricket team all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee and karateka Erika Gurung took home the Male and Female Player of the Year awards, respectively. Cricketer Puja Mahato was named Youth Player of the Year, while para-taekwondo mentor Kabiraj Negi Lama won Coach of the Year. Volleyball’s Himal Sunari secured the People’s Choice Award after securing the highest number of votes.

Additionally, taekwondo’s Tulsi Kumar Gurung received the Special Award, Prabha Angdembe was honoured with the Para-Athlete award, Bangladeshi journalist Rana Hasan won the Asian Sports Journalist Award and veteran sports personality Khadga Ranabhat was conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
