Sheikh, KC set for Bangalore training
Rising cricketers Aarif Sheikh and Karan KC are set to join a 10-day training in Bangalore’s Just Cricket Academy in India. The two youngsters will be trained by coaches Mobin Khan and Vijay Madyalkar in a training slated for October 27 to September 4. The duo will leave on September 26 and return a day after training concludes. Coach Pubudu Dassanayake had planned to send the two to provide exposure.
“Its not only about coaching, they need exposure and during their stay in Bangalore they will get to learn the cricket culture,” said Dassanayake. The Cricket Association of Nepal is providing the cricketers with Rs 100,000 for Academy fee and accommodations. Zohra International gave them two-way tickets.
During a programme on Tuesday, Zohra Managing Director Amir Akhtar handed over the tickets to KC and Sheikh. Sheikh, with an all round ability, is touted to be a star for the new generation of cricketers. He recently made his debut for the national team with the ACC Premier League held in Malaysia from May 1-7. He was named the man-of-the-series in the One Day National Cricket Tournament early this year.
Sheikh has also been picked up in the 18-member squad for the second round of closed-camp for the ICC World Cricket League Division-III. KC – also an all rounder from Pokhara – is a new hope of Nepali fast bowling. With a perfect physique, he terrorised batsmen playing with Panchankanya Tez during the 50-over tournament under the Ncell Nepal Premier League.
KC has been brought as a cover for experienced left arm seamer Amrit Bhattarai for the Division-III tournament. Dassanayake has said KC could seal his place for the Division-III, to be held in Malaysia from October 23 to 30, if Bhattarai fails to prove his fitness.
