Niru Thapa scored a hat-trick as NPC defeated Eastern Region 4-0 at the Campus grounds in Narayangadh, as the unbeaten departmental team booked their berth in the semi-finals as winners of Group A with nine points.
Thapa scored in the 23, 36 and 69 minutes while Yashoda Lama also got in the scoresheet in the 55th minute to maintain the departmental team’s unbeaten run intact.
In the other match, one goal each from Alisha Zimba, Sapana Basnet and Rojina Majhi helped Central Region register 3-0 win over Mid Western Region. Despite the win, Central coach Sher Bahadur Darlami was not happy with the team’s display.
“We could have done better but we squandered a few scoring opportunities,” Darlami said. His Mid West counter part Sanu Tamang was all praise of his team. “We did waste a few good chances but the good thing is that we have improved as a team,” Tamang said after the game.
On Saturday, Tribhuvan Army Club will lock horns with Nepal APF Club while Far Western Region take on Western Region.
