Pradhan, Alam recalled
Veteran spinner Raj Kumar Pradhan, Mehboob Alam and debutant Aarif Sheikh made the final cut for the ACC Premier League slated for May 1-7 in Malaysia.Sheikh is set to make international debut as the allrounder was included in the 14-member Nepali squad announced by the Cricket Association of Nepal on Friday. Sheikh scored 261 runs and took 11 wickets in the national tournament this week.
Similarly, Ram Naresh Giri, who was an unused member during the ACC Emerging Teams in August last year, also made the cut. Pradhan was recalled after six years after last representing Nepal in the 2008 ACC Trophy. Alam last played for the country in the World T20 Qualifier in 2012.
The left-handed bowler holds the record of single handedly bowling out an opposition. He achieved that feat in 2008 in the ICC World Cricket League Division-V tournament match against Mozambique in Jersey.
Paras Khadka retains the captaincy with Gyanendra Malla named his deputy. Others in the squad include Sharad Vesawkar, Shakti Gauchan, Basanta Regmi, Binod Bhandari, Sagar Pun, Naresh Budhayer, Subash Khakurel and Som Pal Kami. Bhuwan Karki, Puspa Thapa and Yagyaman Kumal have been named as reserves.
Apart from Nepal, the hosts United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, Hong Kong, Afghanistan and Malaysia will vie for the championship.
