Armed Police Force (APF) personnel seized 600 sacks of smuggled sugar from a truck in ward 2 of Bardaghat Municipality on Monday.
Two people have been detained along with the contraband for investigation. The truck was heading for Kathmandu from Bhairahawa carrying the smuggled sugar, mobile phone parts, and other goods, the police citing preliminary investigation said.
The APF personnel seized the goods during a security check. APF Superintendent Prakash Wagle said the market price of the seized goods is around Rs6.8 million. The goods were smuggled into Nepal without paying customs duties.
