Two people died in a motorcycle accident near Ramitedanda in ward 6 of Bhimeshwar Municipality, Dolakha, on Tuesday night.

Police said the deceased are 24-year-old Shirish Basnet of ward 5 of Bhimeshwar Municipality and Shyam Bahadur Khatri (Dahal) of ward 3 of Baiteshwar Rural Municipality.

The accident occurred around 9pm when two motorcycles crashed into each other. Both injured riders were taken to hospital, where they died during treatment.

Basnet was the president of the Free Student Union at Gaurishankar Multiple Campus, Charikot.

Police said Dahal was riding one of the motorcycles. The other rider, 25-year-old Nirmal Khadka of ward 5 of Baiteshwar Rural Municipality, sustained minor injuries. He is in police custody as investigations continue.
