A section of the Manthali–Khimti road in Ramechhap district has been blocked since Wednesday morning after around 20 metres of the road near Halde Bazar in Tilpung, ward 7 of Likhu Tamakoshi Rural Municipality, collapsed.
According to Police Inspector Kaushal Neupane of the District Police Office, Ramechhap, only auto-rickshaws and motorcycles can pass currently, while larger vehicles are halted. He said repair work has begun, and traffic is expected to resume in a few hours.
The site was repaired last year, but erosion from the Tamakoshi river has caused the road to collapse again this year.
The blocked road, a major route connecting most villages in Ramechhap to the district headquarters, has stranded travellers from Umakunda, Likhu Tamakoshi and Gokulganga rural municipalities, and Dolakha heading to Kathmandu.
