A 76-year-old man died after being hit by a scooter at Gurudhamchok area along the Dharan-Chatara road section, police said on Friday.
The victim, Anirudra Bastakoti, was struck on Thursday night while walking near ward 16 of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City. He was initially taken to Hetauda Hospital and later referred to Chitwan Medical College in Bharatpur, where he died during treatment on Friday morning.
The police said the scooter was travelling from Thulo Damar to Hatiya. The rider, 27-year-old Sandip Thapa from ward 17, sustained injuries to his ear, right eye, and torso.
He is being treated at Chure Hill Hospital, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyamu Aryal, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Makawanpur.
