Sindhupalchok

A jeep met with an accident at Ward 1 of Helambu Rural Municipality in Sindhupalchok district on Tuesday, killing two Bhutanese nationals on the spot and seriously injuring five others.

The deceased are two men aged 71 and 33 years, according to Police Inspector Manoj Kumar Shrestha of the Helambu Area Police Office.

The jeep with a Nepali driver was heading to Milarepa cave when it skidded off a dirt road and fell some 50 metres down causing the casualties.

“Two Bhutanese nationals were found dead at the accident site while the injured were sent to Helambu Primary Health Centre for treatment,” Shrestha said.

Security personnel, locals and people representatives carried out the rescue operations.

Nima Gyalzen Sherpa, chair of the rural municipality, said preparations are underway to airlift those seriously injured to Kathmandu for further treatment.
