At least one person died and eight others were injured in a road accident in Sundarbasti of the Panauti Municipality on Wednesday.

The accident occurred at around 6:45am after a motorcycle and an electric microbus collided with each other. Seven on board the microbus, and two riding on the two-wheeler were injured in the accident, said Kavre District Police Office.

Manthali Municipality-5 local Ramila Budhathoki, 20, who was among the seven aboard the electric vehicle, was pronounced dead during treatment at the Dhulikhel Hospital at 7:35am, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajkumar Shrestha, also the information officer for the district police office.

The other injured are receiving treatment at the Dhulikhel-based hospital, Shrestha added. Their condition is normal.

Police have taken van driver Upendra Thapa, 41, into custody for investigation, police said.
