142 people killed in road mishaps in five months in Bagmati

In the five months of the current fiscal year, at least 142 people died and 1,423 others were injured in 639 road accidents in the Bagmati Province, excluding the three districts of Kathmandu Valley.
According to the Bagmati Province Police Office in Hetauda, most of the accidents happened in the Makawanpur, Sindhuli, Chitwan, Kavre, and Dhading districts of the province.
“Most of the traffic accidents in the ten districts of the province in the current fiscal year were caused by human error. To reduce the number of road accidents in the province, we have conducted 167 road safety awareness programmes in various districts,” said Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Regmi.
