Kavrepalanchok restricts trucks and tippers ahead of elections
Ban aims to ensure heightened security during elections.Jyoti Shrestha
The District Administration Office, Kavrepalanchok, has announced a ban on trucks and tippers carrying riverine and mining materials across the district from March 1 to 6 to maintain election security.
The district security committee said vehicles transporting bricks, gravel, sand, and similar materials will be restricted during this period due to heightened security sensitivity ahead of the upcoming elections. Construction and transport businesses, along with other stakeholders, have been urged to comply and support enforcement.
Separately, the Election Commission has suspended the operation of all public and private vehicles from midnight on March 4 until voting concludes. On election day, only vehicles for essential services—ambulances, fire trucks, hearses, blood transport, security agencies, electricity and water repair, sewage maintenance, and telecom repair—will be allowed. Diplomatic vehicles and those with election-day passes will also be exempt.
