Teacher arrested for molesting students in Bharatpur

Police have arrested a teacher of the Bharatpur-based Aroma English Secondary School for molesting a student. The incident, which took place on December 14, was reported to the school administration by the student on Sunday.
The accused teacher was arrested on Tuesday following heavy protests from the students.
The school issued a notice on Tuesday, stating that the accused was a computer teacher in the school.
According to complaints from the eleventh-grade students, the accused touched them inappropriately during computer lessons.
“Actions were taken against the teacher immediately after the complaints were received on Sunday,” the school in the notice.
However, the students had staged protests on Tuesday demanding legal action be taken against the accused, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police Bijay Raj Pandit.
The agitated students vandalised school buses and other school properties during the protest. Following the incident, the school administration, through a notice, announced that the school will remain closed from Wednesday onwards.
Following the complaints, the Higher Institutions and Secondary Schools' Association Nepal (HISSAN) in Chitwan also issued a press release stating that the accused teacher would not be recruited by any school under the HISSAN Chitwan until the court’s final verdict.
The press release issued by HISSAN Chitwan president Pradeep Paudel also criticised the vandalism that took place at the school.
