German national dies in road accident in Chitwan

A German national died in a road accident at Ichhakamana Rural Municipality in Chitwan on Thursday.
According to the police, 60-year-old Michael Meyer-Olbersleben of Germany, who was riding a motorcycle, died after being hit by a jeep at Phisling along the Prithvi Highway at around 10:15 am.
The seriously injured Meyer-Olbersleben was rushed to Bharatpur-based Teaching Hospital for treatment where he was pronounced dead around 12:30pm, said police.
“The doctors pronounced him dead after performing an electrocardiogram,” said Deputy Superintendent Bijay Raj Pandit, spokesperson at the District Police Office in Chitwan.
Pandit said that Meyer-Olbersleben was coming from Narayangadh and heading towards Kathmandu via Mugling, while the jeep was en route to Mugling from Dhading when the accident occurred.
The pillion, a female foreign national, and jeep passenger 73-year-old Nir Bahadur Tamang of Galchi Rural Municipality in Dhading district were also injured in the accident. Both of them are receiving medical treatment at Chitwan Medical College and are in stable condition.
Police have detained the driver, 21-year-old Sajan Bhujel of Gorkha, for further investigation.
