Baskota beat his nearest rival, Shiva Prasad Humagain of the Nepali Congress, by 5,863 votes.

CPN UML’s Gokul Baskota has been elected a member of the House of Representatives from Kavrepalanchowk-2. He received 45,345 votes.
Baskota beat his nearest rival Shiva Prasad Humagain of the Nepali Congress by 5,863 votes. Humagain garnered 39,482 votes while Rastriya Swatantra Party candidate Dinesh Humagain finished third with 10,573 votes.
Baskota had previously been elected from the same constituency.
