The Loktantrik Samajbadi Party on Tuesday quit the Saroj Kumar Yadav-led Madhesh provincial government.
The party recalled Minister for Forest and Environment Ramesh Kurmi Patel and withdrew its support to the government, said Upendra Mahato, provincial assembly member of the party.
“We will now vote against the chief minister during the floor test,” said Mahato.
The party has nine members in the 107-strong assembly.
Chief Minister Yadav won the trust vote on Tuesday after the erstwhile ruling partner, the Nepali Congress, withdrew its support with the change in the political power equation at the centre.
The provincial assembly comprises 23 lawmakers from the UML, 22 from the Nepali Congress, 18 from the Janata Samajbadi Party, 13 from the Janamat Party, nine each from the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, the CPN (Maoist Centre) and the CPN (Unified Socialist), and one each from Nagarik Unmukti Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Nepal Sanghiya Samajbadi Party and one independent.
The chief minister garnered the vote of 61 lawmakers, a clear majority in the 107-strong assembly.
