The Department of Electricity Development has formed a four-member committee to investigate Monday’s jeep accident in the Pathibhara area of Taplejung district.
Department spokesperson Sandip Dev said senior engineer Nutan Sharma leads the committee and includes officials Shalikram Bhandari and Narayan Shrestha from the department, as well as a professor from Pulchowk Engineering College.
Committee coordinator Sharma said they would visit the accident site soon and submit a report to the department. “We will study how the incident occurred, how the wire came loose, and recommend measures to prevent such accidents in the future,” said Sharma. Although no deadline has been fixed, he said the committee would begin work promptly.
The accident occurred near Sewaro Chowk when an electric wire hanging from a pole touched a moving jeep. The vehicle, which was heading to Kaflepati from the district headquarters Phungling, caught fire, killing four people on the spot.
