Five people were injured in a jeep accident in Taplejung district on Saturday evening.

The vehicle was travelling from Phungling to Tapethok in ward 4 of Phaktanglung Rural Municipality when the accident occurred.

According to Vijaya Rai, information officer at District Hospital, Taplejung, all injured individuals were referred for further treatment after initial care.

The victims were brought to the hospital on Saturday night, with some transported for further treatment on the same night and others on Sunday morning.

The driver, Priti Singh Limbu, told police in an initial statement that brake failure caused the accident. He is currently in custody at the Tapethok Police Post.
