An eight-year-old boy died after falling off a jeep at ward 4 of Majhuwagadhi Municipality in Khotang district on Thursday night. The incident occurred near Siddheshwar Cave on the Diktel-Khanidanda road section.

The boy sustained serious injuries after falling onto the road and was being transported to Kathmandu for further treatment. However, as his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to Halesi Tuwachung Municipal Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, said information officer Mohan Pokharel.

The driver, 45-year-old Govinda Katuwal, is in police custody. Authorities are further investigating.
